13 Seriously?

I got 13 Prison PushUps in today! I was on my way to 14 when the bell rung, or in this case Adam says 18. I completed 14 but not in the time allowed. I followed this up with a 5 mile run and weighed in at my starting weight of 207 today. Let the melting begin!

12

12 Prison Pushups! Need I say more? 20lbs may be too much in the lunge, kickback, press curl exercise.
There is a gigantic pool of sweat on my garage floor from this morning. Keeping the diet clean until Super Bowl. Also, I will be doing a set of pics next week to give you a look at the year that was the year of the Iceman, and a preview of what will be the year of Jason.
P90X is everywhere!

X Stretch X

Opted for the X Stretch today instead of the 8 mile run. After 3 weeks of 9 workouts a week and an increased extra-curricular activity, I'm beat, bushed, pooped, and in desperate need of a good stretch.
See everyone during their recovery hair phase.

Pumpkin Soup - Week 3 in the Bag

44 free form pull ups and 100 total for week 3 which almost equals my highest total and highest number of free form pull ups from any of my previous workouts. I was able to get 45 free form at my highest in my 2nd round of Legs and Back of 2009. I rocked Legs and Back last night and didn't think that I was going to get it done but I'm feeling stronger.
I'm keeping the diet clean and limiting the amount of cheating I do on McPizza day. I may end up getting my run in today as opposed to tomorrow but we'll see, I'm looking to get 8 miles in and see how fast I can do it.

Week 3 about to be in the Rear View Mirror

Wow, I can't believe we're at the end of week 3 already. I have one more workout to go, Legs and Back, then break day on Saturday. I ran this morning for 5 miles and got in ARX in it's entirety before the run. Hands in the air the entire time. My tailbone feels great!
In all seriousness, I have to thank my good buddy HHH Bradley Thomas Hensley for inspiring me to get myself in shape a year ago. I did my first fit test 1 year ago today and now I am working out 9 times a week and feeling great. I'm not sure how I'll every repay him for being the main motivator to get me from Tubby Town to RESULTS CITY!
Thanks Brad!

Beach day and run in a Monsoon!

I got in Shoulders and Arms today and a run with Lucy during a torrential downpour. Before I started these workouts, I was what some people say was "loose in the cage" now I'm all like X ME X ME! Pushed play, pushed hard, and ran for 30 minutes afterward.
I know I love myself already but damn does the boy look good!

Banging the Bucket

Woke up this morning to our first vicious storm of the year. Brought my bucket and got to work. I may have lost 5 lbs today during my workout. I did Ab Ribber after plyo today as I did doubles back to back yesterday and just didn't have enough time. Full set of 40 Mason twists to finish the Ribber.
Now, back to yesterday's results: 223 full "I'm a Man!" push ups is the second highest total of my illustrious career and I am just starting week 3. I got 233 push ups in during my 11th week of the second round last year, so where is this going to take me? I'm not sure but I do know, that I'm no longer fearful of removing my shirt in public. I went shirtless today during plyo and I regularly rip my shirt of Hulkamania style during my client meetings.
Still pushing play, eating clean, and living the life!

The Playoffs suck but my progress is legit!

I ran 8 miles yesterday, no problemo. This morning I decided to do my doubles Back to Back and performed Chest and Back followed by a 5 mile run in the rain. So far, throughout this round of P90X I've run a total of 58.3 miles as well as performing a full schedule of the X. My stamina and energy is pretty solid and I'm certain I will see some dramatic results after "Graduation". Today was also a big day in terms of breakthroughs, much faster this time around than the prior two rounds. I started this workout just over weeks ago and my totals were as follows:
  • 180 Standard push ups
  • 11 Free Form Pull Ups
  • 51 stool assisted pull ups
  • 62 total Pull ups
Last week I got to 195 in total pull ups and increased my total pull ups by one but was fearful that my increase in cardio was going to hamper my performance in the studio. However, I woke up this morning pushed play and proceeded to BRING IT!
Todays results:
  • 223 push ups
  • 22 Free Form Pull ups
  • 51 Stool assisted pull ups
  • 73 total pull ups
If that doesn't remind any of you of Carl Diekler, I'm not sure what will. Mr Intensity, like nobody's business!

Legs and Back - looking forward to sleeping in

I finished up Legs and Back on Friday night and proceeded to eat about 20 ozs of chicken, rice, beans, and plantains. Ummm Yummmm! Saturday, kept the diet clean untill Saturday night, Nutella, graham bunnies and yogurt with Granola for snack after the Shrimp Pasta Pomodoro P90X dinner. Clean diet for Sunday so far and about to head out on a long run with the dog. I finished up my second full week and I've gained some weight, I attribute this to muscle gain before the ultimate fat loss and weight loss.
Looking forward to pushing play tomorrow for another set of Doubles. I'm feeling strong so far and the soreness is subsiding a bit, not as painful to take a squat as last week was, we'll see after this run.

Week 2 coming to a close

This Pic is from February 3rd 2009. I went back through last year's progress pics and got a kick out of where I started and where I am now. Considering a year ago I wouldn't even think about doing more than 3 pull ups and got winded after a 3 mile 30 minute jog, I am excited to see where my progress takes me this time. Got up at 4:30 this morning just raring to go! Did Ab Ripper X and talk about ripping it, we had burritos last night and suffice it to say the living room smelled of burritos this morning. Went out with Lucy for my 5 mile jog and will be doing Legs and Back this evening! I will be sleeping in on Saturday, and by sleeping in, I mean with both kids in the bed by 6:00 am watching Dora or Handy Manny. I will post some updated pics in February to see the real difference a year makes.

Shoulders/Arms/ARX + 5 Mile run double up!

Wednesday is a tough day as I do Shoulders and Arms, with an abbreviated arx and run 5 miles in a 2 hour period starting at 5:00am. PacMan's Back! Vegas Van Dan is halfway through his first go of P90X and HHH is as gay as ever. Sorry for the lack of posts, but I just got an iPhone yesterday and like anyone who has one, I've been obsessed with it since I opened the box. Since this is my third installment of this, I am getting into the groove much quicker than the other 2 times. I've maintained a relatively solid level of fitness since I finished up round 2 in August. I've been running 4 days a week, mixing in a few random P90 workouts in the mix and Ab Ribber 2 to 3 days a week so my starting point is much better this time. I still have the complete body soreness that comes with the program but it's minimal compared to the past. Also, I'm already feeling and seeing results faster than either of the previous sessions. And so is my wife.
I am running a looser diet than in the past but still sticking to the diet 90% of the time.
I rocked Yoga again today, pushups in between every movement, full crane, made my back seize up during wheel but worked the hell out of Happy Baby and The Corpse!
I'm not sure who missed Tony more, my wife, my kids, or myself!

Mr. Intensity = Results City!

Wow! What a week! As I've stated before I am doing a doubles version of P90X for my third installment of this fine program. Instead of doing the Cardio X dvd every 3 days I am running my dog 4 days a week. On Mon, Wed, Fri I do a 5 mile run and on Sundays, I do a longer run, just over 6 miles, so my schedule is as such:
  • Monday- 5 Mile run in AM, Chest and Back+ ARX- PM
  • Tuesday - Plyo
  • Wednesday - Shoulders and Arms+ARX+ 5 mile run in AM
  • Thursday - Yoga
  • Friday - 5 Mile run in AM +ARX, Back and Legs in PM
  • Saturday Stretch or rest
  • Sunday - Run with dog
Last week, I was unable to get Back and Legs in on Friday so I did it on Saturday and then ran on Sunday. Needless to say, it's been hard to sit down the last few days.
Monday was a solid workout day for me, I felt good on the run after some initial soreness and delicate steps down my hill but finished the run all the way to my house which is a nice little climb to finish on. I did Chest and Back last night and improved on my total number of pushups from last week by 13. My pull ups are still lagging but I was also still sore from doing pull ups on Saturday and then got most of the way through ARX and threw in the towel. I was spent. I woke up this morning and got after it with Frog Boy, Bucket Boy and Mr Intensity! Plyo is a bitch of a workout in a different way and I really settled into a groove. I finished out Plyo with HHH's words ringing in my ears, "You don't drink, so you have no excuse for not having a great body!"
PacMan!?

Legs and Back = coma

I'm not sure how Colt McCoy's arm felt the other night but my legs are no longer feeling anything. Legs and Back is one of the most intense workouts in this whole series. Plyo- Core Synergistics and Legs and Back never get easier. Good news to report; this is my third time through P90x and I've kept copious notes for the first two rounds so I can see what I've done as a gauge of my strength. I did more standard pull ups today than I did week 1 of round 2. It brought my total number of pull ups down a bit but I'm really pushing myself to improve my ability to do pull ups. Anyway, I didn't get it in on Friday so I did it first thing Saturday morning and will be finishing my week with Wesley and his outrageous heart rate tomorrow.
PacMan?

Part 1 of Doubleday 3

This morning I awoke before my alarm and had plans of getting in Legs and Back before my run. However, after looking at the workout again, I quickly realized that if I tried to do Legs and Back then run today, I may be calling my wife for a ride home after I got halfway done with the run so I am splitting today's workout into two sessions. I did the same with Chest and Back but doubled up on Shoulders and arms and the run. I need to make sure I eat well today and get in the Legs and back this afternoon.
On a side note, I'm concerned about PacMan. Where is he?

Because, I do Yoga!

Alright,
I may now have to get up earlier than I did in 2009 to get my workouts in. I was half way through Yoga this morning when the girls and dog come downstairs and do their best to interrupt my balance poses. After some yelling and glaring, I finally got them out of my way and finished a shirtless session successfully. I'm in day 4 of the program now and will doing my third double day workout of the week tomorrow with Legs and Back and a 40 minute run. I may not be able to walk this weekend. I weighed in at 208 pre workout and 205 post workout.
I'm sore all over and I love it.

Plyo is a Bitch

I've got good news and great news. First the Good news, I'm very regular when it comes to Bowl movements, however, they've been hardening in the last week and I'm now to the point of pushing out rabbit pellets with great force! The Great news is I'm beating my alarm up and out of bed before 4:50 every morning. My plan was to get Plo in this morning and started out well with ARX from yesterday as, no PacMan, I'm not able to get it all in yet in Back to Back doubles. I did 94% of ARX today as this is an area that saw limited action in my time away, I will have to get Plyo in this evening as I was not able to get er donw this morning. I now have the complete body soreness that I grew so fond of last year.
Side note, I did a trail run on Saturday morning instead of the scheduled Back and Legs workout, it was the first Annual Marsh to Mt Top organized by a buddy of mine up here. We started our run at the Bay, actually touching the bay with our hands and ran to the top of Mt Tamalpais. It was a total of 8.2 miles 3000+ elevation gain and I did it in just over 1 hour and 50 minutes. The last mile was brutal, but the accomplishment was satisfying.
Also, is it just me or was the Fiesta Bowl the largest collection of white people around a sporting event since the 50's? TCU and Boise State, shocking!

Guess who's Back!

Alright stop collaborate and listen! Icee's back with a brand new invention! It called Doubles My Way Bitches. Today I did my first Double session back to back and by that I mean, I did my lifting workout, today was Shoulders and Arms and then I ran for 40 mins with my dog. Talk about brutal, it was tough but I made it through and I will be doing this type of workout 3 days a week this time. The P90X Doubles plan calls for following the classic plan through week 4 then adding Cardio in week 5, 3 days a week through completion. I'm going to be doing cardio 3 days a week through the whole 90 days and we'll see what happens. I weighed in before my first workout last week at 208. Up Slightly from where I finished my last full session of P90x but not bad in the grand scheme of life. My goal for the next 90 days is simple, be accountable, be healthy, and finish another round of P90X with cardio mixed in for total body fitness.
