Final Picture Day

I promise no more half naked pics of myself but here is what the people want.
I'm done with the full program for the third time and will be on to something else. Most likely triathlon training. Enjoy the before and after montage
Icee out!

Monday, April 5, 2010

We're twins...actually we're triplet, although we all want to be PacMans. I have successfully graduated round 3 of P90X. I completed it on Saturday with a final Core Synergistics that burned me up good! The goal was 18 Prison push ups and I did it...however, I did not get 18 done before the time allotted. I was just starting the 18th when the buzzer sounded. I did have the strength to finish the 18 total prisons and I did it. That's 54 total pushups with knee in, knee in, jump up.
Not sure what I'm going to do but if my day after graduation is any indication, I ran 8 miles, it's going to be intense. Looking for the next best thing.

ahhhhhhh Rest

It was a nice feeling to not set the alarm and not workout this morning. Rest is important!
2 more days for me!

17 Prison Push ups

There are a few things that you have to know about this workout series and a few things all people are measured by in the eyes of HHH and the Iceman. Prison Push Ups is the single biggest differentiators in the entire program. Adam, the extremely fit Dancer boy with half a percent of body fat gets 18 done in 1:27 seconds. HHH got 18 on Sunday. I did 17 and although I'm disappointed, I did not have 18 in me. I'll try one more time on Saturday and then pack it up for a while!

Regression

Woke up after a week of not getting much sleep and a night of even less sleep due to dog sitting for a friend and man did I struggle. I started out Back and Bis with a vengence. 16 Wide grip free form and 6 more with the stool, but when it came to curls, my arms were tired. I'm looking forward to the end of this set. Man am I beat.

Update to my post last night

I woke up late this morning and allowed myself to sleep in. The Body needs to repair as much as it needs to build. I want to update my post from last night because as I look back on this I'll want to remember that although I merely matched the total Push up count from Week 10, I did have some breakthroughs and improvements that don't just show in the numbers. For instance, to start this workout, there are the slow count push ups and for the last year I have never been able to pace myself with Tony's counting through the entire workout. Last night I matched him and felt strong, it's pretty amazing feeling to be able to do 12 pushups at that slow count, not only that but I then did 20 fast pushups to finish that set. I increased my weight to 25's on most of the other exercises, I did 32 Floor Flys, and I got 20 clap push ups in! I was pretty beat afterwards and also realized something from a vanity perspective. My midsection is all but transformed to that of a slim dude. I may not see Eye popping abs like they show you on the infomercial but for me to stand sideways, not suck in my gut at all, and still see a slim waist that is achievement.

Allen Iverson to Start Week 12

I equalled my Pushup count from last time I did this workout and it was part of a double day. 5 mile run this morning Tony Horton at 8:00 tonight.
Ughhhhh!

Yoga to Wrap of the week

My days are all screwed up and honestly I needed to shake things up to get this thing done. I decided to do Yoga to finish my week this week as Thursday Yoga hasn't been working and I needed to do Yoga. Tomorrow will begin my last week of workout sheets and I could not be happier. This is a grueling program and when you throw a major trip in it gets tough to keep going. PacMan knows this all too well. I do not anticipate any eye popping results from this round or I should say I dod not expect eye "popping" Abs. I'm as fit as I've ever been and happy. Enough said
Also, Rocked Crane for over 60 seconds, no toe touches, just full on crane Bitches!

Motivation is Waning

I woke up this morning and went for a 5 mile run. It was pretty cool to run without doing a major lifting workout and ARX this morning and I did this because I had some big calls today. Honestly, Closing out this third installment of the X is becoming tough to maintain my focus but I will get it down.

Last Beach day for a while

It was nice to have this workout to do on a Saturday morning. I'm a little off my schedule due to the Hawaiian Holiday we just returned from so my first day of Week 11 was Wednesday. I'm sure Koko is very confused right now. Not much to report other than higher numbers than before, strength is impressive, athletic ability may be at an all time high. 2 and a half weeks left and then I start training for a triathlon. After the Tri in June, I'm not sure what I'm going to do but I know this...I'll look good doing it!

Closing out sheets in Record Style

I literally had tears in my eyes after I calculated my total numbers for tonight's Chest and Back workout. I set a goal before I started of 250 total pushups. I did not set a goal for my pull ups other than to better my last time out which would be another ATH. The reason I had tears in my eyes, is I looked at my day one and last February when I started P90 for the first time I did 44 pushups. That's right Brian Bozworth's number 44. Tonight I did 268 total push ups. Are you kidding me? I am very proud of myself and very excited for these results. I did 96 total pull ups and 45 were free form. I will do ARX and run 5 miles in the morning.
God Bless HHH and Big shout out to PacMan! You two keep me going. Also, I will take Hudson down in the "We're pretty sure they're straight Decathalon for 37 year old dads."

Back to reality

I've taken Monday and Tuesday off due to travel and this morning woke up in California a full 3 hours before I really wanted to and my body needed to. Oh well, 8 days in paradise were worth the momentary pain. I had every intention of getting right back on the horse and getting chest and back in before running with the dog, but I am tired and I opted for a four mile run. I'll get back in the studio tomorrow. Good news, I worked out 5 of the 8 days I was on vacation, stayed 80% true to the diet and came back weighing less than when I left.
I can not wait to be done with this program, this time. I'm looking forward to a change.

Legs And Back with Aloha Spirit!

Well, I was dreading this workout for several reasons. One it's my next to last day of vacation and I just want to relax. However, since I don't drink I have no other way to relax or let off steam. Two, I just did Back and Biceps so I wasn't too psyched to be hitting the pull up bar again. However, the gym here, at the place we're staying is really really nice.
I got down there a little after 9:15 and got to work. I got to watch the Buckeyes while I worked out as well. I had a brief moment of depression yesterday after I saw some pictures of myself and I still seem to be rounder around the middle than I'd like to be.
I crushed the workout, improved my pull up numbers to 126 total, and had ARX done before I started. I weighed myself after the workout and after some breakfast and I'm weighing in at 207, not bad after a week of vacation.
Two more days in paradise, then it's back to the grind!

Yoga on the Beach

I did a Yoga program on the beach this morning, using my iPhone. Not exactly Yoga X but basically the same poses in a bit of a different cadence and order. It felt good and I may have found a Yoga Program to do when not xing all the time.
Diet is off a bit, but trying to stay as clean as possible through the vacation.
Feeling good about my progress and think to truly see a 6 pack, I need another round of this focusing on the abs more.

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Aloha! Well it's Thursday morning and I'm about to head down to the gym for Back and Biceps. On Tuesday I blew by 200 pushups to get 206 total for chest tri shoulders, that's a full 15 more than the last time and my goal was 200 for the day. A very cool thing happened, I walked into the gym at 6:30 and there was a guy on a mat doing Core Synergistics. Here's the exchange that followed:
Me: Core Synergistics huh?
Him: Yep
Me: I've got Chest, Shoulders, Tris this morning (I'm beaming proudly)
This coaxes a smile out of the guy and his response is
Him: Its a great program
Me: Yeah, I Love it! This is my third time through!
He just nodded and smiled.
Not to be discouraged, I put my headphones in and cranked out one of my best workouts I've had in a while. HHH may be on to something with the Swinger style P90X parties. Yesterday, I finished the day with a 3 mile run. I ran 7:40 min miles at the end of the day. I will try to get a run in today as well as ARX and Back and Bis. Diet hasn't been the cleanest but it hasn't been horrible either. The picture is from yesterday at the beach. I used to be embarrassed by pictures of myself at the beach but now I love it.

another record for Me

124 total pull ups during Legs and Back. My previous high was 118. 124 Pull ups, I never thought I'd see the day I could do over 120 pull ups. 60 free form is still the highest I can get in 8 sets. 7+ free form pull ups a set is amazing considering I couldn't even do 1 free form until week 5 of the first set.
I need to eat

HoHum 5 mile run

All I did this morning was run an 8:20 min/ mile for just over 5 miles. It really is amazing the condition that I'm in now that a 5 mile run seems like an easy day.
Legs and Back tomorrow early! Then follow it up with Chest, Shoulder, tris on Sunday. I'll be flying to Hawaii on Monday so that will be my off day!
Aloha!

Thursday, March 4, 2010

Yoga is easy!

I will say that about 10 minutes into every workout, there is a point where I say to myself, "man I'm not feeling comfortable, maybe I should take the day off." then I just keep going for a little bit and that feeling fades. Usually an hour or so later, I'm glad I pushed through. Crane is for pussys

Beach DAY! ARX 3 mile run

Wow, fun to be back doing the Beach workout! I had a moment of self love and admiration this morning when I caught a glimpse of myself stretching before the workout. I'm pretty much working out shirtless now as my shirts are all too big for me and bother me...also I'm very homoerotically in love with myself. Anyway, I was doing the stretch where you press your palms together in front of you and round out your shoulders, basically the opposite of this and I noticed that my mid-section actually bent with the curve of my back at that time. I've always seen a little over-hang and some belly showing but today it was pure core baby!

AbRIbber and planned on Plyo

I ran out of time this morning. I have my boss in town today so I wanted to be here early just in case. He's not here yet, I should have done plyo!

I'll get er done tonight!

By the way, ESPN Radio is now picking up the sensation that is Tony Horton. Doug Gotleib started doing P90 earlier this year and now Colin Cowherd is stepping up to the plate. It's a full on revolution people!
Drink your water people!

Nothing else to say, heading for a run!
Toby G ran a 4.53 40.

14....

I didn't have it in me today. Got Core Synergistics in about 4 hours later than I wanted to and although I had 10 full prisons done in 30 seconds, I didn't have the strength to get past 14, I did 15 total but only 14 in the agreed upon time limit. Hillarious that I'm upset with 15 prison pushups, I'll be running with Lucy today and Phase 3 starts tomorrow morning!
Hard to believe that we're in Phase already. To answer HHH bomb's question about diet, I am hungry and eating in the middle of the night, still below calorie totals needed but I need to find a way to get about 400 more clean calories in my gut and help cut sugar cravings.

Friday, February 26, 2010

Man am I HungrY!

Someone is 10 days away from some serious Peacocking! The wife and I have been itching to take a little R&R and I came across a deal we couldn't pass up. Anyway, long story short, I'm finally not afraid to be walking around with my shirt off.
Yoga yesterday, killed it! I experienced what HHH probably always feels when he rocks the crane, weightlessness. It's amazing. Ran 5 miles this morning and I'll get Core Synergistics in tomorrow morning. Can you say 18?
Enjoy!

Core SYnergystics! 16 Prisons

The key is the speed, I got a little sloppy after 12 but kept pushing it. I got 16 in fully before Adam spoke and also noticed that the beep to tell you the exercise is over does not occur untill after Adam speaks. I'm gunning for 18 on Friday.
Ran this morning instead of Kenpo and will yoga x it out tomorrow morning with a full studio audience I'm sure.
I'm re-evaluating my diet and have been using Livestrong's Daily Plate to record this weeks food diary. I am thinking that with my activity levels at what they are, I may not be eating enough.
I'll keep you posted, weighed in at 205 this morning.

Today I ran this morning and plan to yogatize myself this evening! Recovery is blessed!

Green Bean Gritter

Guy owns a boat. Why? Ho Hum, just another record setting day. 118 total pull ups and 60 free form. for those of you that don't understand the significance of this, consider a year ago, I only did 8 free form pull ups without assistance. This workout is getting better for me. My legs are strong and during the first set of pull ups I felt a sensation I had never felt before...I felt like I was weightless for the first 5 to 10 pull ups. I got 12 in free form in the first set. I also jogged 2 miles before this workout this morning.
Looking forward to recovery hair.

Dorkasaurus Invaded Hilton in PHX

There was a Dorkasaurus sighting this week in Phoenix, AZ. Under Armor shirt and everything. The Pull up Bar was not the greatest but they did have this cool new machine that basically acts as a Pull up bar with weights. I put it at 125 lbs and cranked out Back and Bis in less than 40 mins total. I did Yoga in the room on Thursday and played some of my worst golf on record. All in all it was a good trip and I was pleasantly suprised to see that my scale read 207.5 after a week on the road.
I ran 5 miles this morning in a sub 8:00/ mile pace and I will get Legs and Back done this afternoon. I can't believe week 7 is almost in the bag. I feel real abs and I'm trying to stay as clean as possible on the diet, I need to find that delicate balance of just the right amount of calories to achieve my goal.

Week 7 Baby!

Setting new personal bests, each time out. My legs were dead this morning for my run after Chest Shoulders and Tris but after running 5 miles on Friday, Snowboarding all day on Saturday, and another 4 mile run on Sunday, my legs are screaming for a break. Tomorrow is an off day for me, I will be travelling to PHX. I will be pulling a Dorkasaurus on Wednesday in the Hotel's gym Hensley Style.
As for today's workout, I was tired going into it so I thought I may be pulling an AI but I pushed play and tried to push myself beyond last weeks total #s. I upped my weight on each exercise and I did 191 total pushups. Last week, I was excited for 180 now I"m above 190, 200 is in the works for week 12!

Yoga Belly 7 Times!

I love Yoga! I never thought I ever would but was always intrigued and now that I do it regularly, I find myself craving more. I walk taller, feel healthy and I think I may be happier on the days I do Yoga.
I struggled a little on Crane today but I finally unlocked a secret to Half Moon.

I may have found a new video to workout to Tony?

Today was tough

This morning was rough, lack of sleep, cold, dark and just not feeling it as I woke up this morning and realized I needed to do pull ups. Just like on Monday morning, I wrote down a goal before the workout based on my past performances. My all time high for pull ups for this workout is 94 total with 25 free form pull ups and the rest with chair. I set the bar at 95 today. After my first set of pull ups I was like "Damn! this is going to be hard!" I pushed through the doldrums and as is always the case, whether it's Dorkasaurus challenging me, the over enthusiastic workout partners or my sweet pop mix I got into it. I got 94 total pull ups in and 26 free form. A new Personal Best.
Skipping ARX this morning and will be running shortly with the dog. I'll try to get ARX in later...Yoga tomorrow! Relief!

Week 6 and New All-Time HIghs

Good morning Saints Fans!
Well, yesterday was a big cheat day! I had two giant bowls of chili, about 4 pieces of corn bread, and about 5 different sweet treats, chocolate chip cookies, lemon bars, brownies and went to bed with serious heartburn. I slept in a little this morning, and woke up at 6:00 and jumped into the studio, my garage, a little before 7:00 this morning for Chest, Shoulders, Tris. Just old fashioned pushing away!
Anyway, my previous high in push ups for this workout was 168, whic I did twice in Round 2 thispast summer. I got in 162 last week so I set my sights on 170 and wrote that as a goal on the top of the sheet. This was a good thing to do as I found myself pushing each set just a little more and I ended up getting 180 total push ups done. Did a full ARX and then took the dog for a 5 mile run and ran just under 9:00 minute miles. Feeling good Billy Ray!

Saturday, February 6, 2010

Week 5 in the proverbial BAG

P90X is everywhere these days. Pink does it, Jerry Stackhouse does it, Doug Gotlieb of ESPN does it. Did the HHH Bomb start a revolution? Are people that motivated by the Iceman's success?
One word that I like to use is "Mr Intensity like nobody's bizness...RESULTS CITY" I got after legs and back today ran 4 miles yesterday and did the full ARX after legs and Back today.
Big day on Pull Ups. I have set a new all time high of 109 total pull ups with 52 free form. Both all time highs!
Looking forward to the day of gourging that the Super Bowl will bring. Trying to stay clean untill then. After Sunday, this guy will be having the cleanest diet ever!

One year later

Well Well Well, This week has been fun! Monday Chest SHoulders and Tris, ARX, and a 4 mile run. Tuesday off. Wednesday, Back and Bis and 4 mile run and more importantly. Picture Day! It's been exactly a year between these photos and I'm excited that my 30 day pics for this round of the X are close to where I was at the end of round 2. That means there is unlimited Upside Potential. Without further adieu here they are in a full series slideshow.
Also, during Back and Bis, I was able to get my second highest total of pull ups with 92 total for the day. Today is Yoga and I had started it this morning but the kids were up early and extra needy so I will try to get it in sometime today.
Pushing Play is my obsession

Stirring up Some Trouble with Phil!

The start of Phase II is off and rolling big time! I went out for a run with my new buddy and Sunday workout partner Matt Rodgers yesterday. We got 10 miles in at 1 hr and 28 minutes for an 8:47/ pace. Not bad, considering I've never run 10 miles before in my entire life. I'm not kidding you here folks, the longest I've ran before yesterday was 8.5 miles in one attempt. I followed that up by hanging with Tony and Phil today in Chest, Shoulders and Back. The first workout back into Phase 2. Hello Muscle Confusion! I got after it today. I was a bit stiff and sore in my core today due to the 10 miles yesterday but I pushed play, got through it and put in my second highest Push up total for this workout from the previous 2 sessions. To explain, I count my total pushups for the round and try to best my previous efforts. The only area that I was not able to out perform was the first set. Slow Mo push ups are hard. I did a full ARX after and then went out for 5 miles with the dog. That was tough this morning, but I got it done.
I'd say I'm as fit as I've ever been in my life but I'm still looking forward to the progress after 60 more days of this!

Friday, January 29, 2010

13 Seriously?

I got 13 Prison PushUps in today! I was on my way to 14 when the bell rung, or in this case Adam says 18. I completed 14 but not in the time allowed. I followed this up with a 5 mile run and weighed in at my starting weight of 207 today. Let the melting begin!

Thursday, January 28, 2010

I tought today was Yoga, but it's only Xstretch

Recovery week is easy!
I'm doing Yoga tonight anyway! That's the way I roll

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

I did not do KenmPo

I ran 5 miles.
Tomorrow is Yoga X my brotha! Get down there and quit dogging it!

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

12

12 Prison Pushups! Need I say more? 20lbs may be too much in the lunge, kickback, press curl exercise.
There is a gigantic pool of sweat on my garage floor from this morning. Keeping the diet clean until Super Bowl. Also, I will be doing a set of pics next week to give you a look at the year that was the year of the Iceman, and a preview of what will be the year of Jason.
P90X is everywhere!

Sunday, January 24, 2010

X Stretch X

Opted for the X Stretch today instead of the 8 mile run. After 3 weeks of 9 workouts a week and an increased extra-curricular activity, I'm beat, bushed, pooped, and in desperate need of a good stretch.
See everyone during their recovery hair phase.

Saturday, January 23, 2010

Pumpkin Soup - Week 3 in the Bag

44 free form pull ups and 100 total for week 3 which almost equals my highest total and highest number of free form pull ups from any of my previous workouts. I was able to get 45 free form at my highest in my 2nd round of Legs and Back of 2009. I rocked Legs and Back last night and didn't think that I was going to get it done but I'm feeling stronger.
I'm keeping the diet clean and limiting the amount of cheating I do on McPizza day. I may end up getting my run in today as opposed to tomorrow but we'll see, I'm looking to get 8 miles in and see how fast I can do it.

Friday, January 22, 2010

Week 3 about to be in the Rear View Mirror

Wow, I can't believe we're at the end of week 3 already. I have one more workout to go, Legs and Back, then break day on Saturday. I ran this morning for 5 miles and got in ARX in it's entirety before the run. Hands in the air the entire time. My tailbone feels great!
In all seriousness, I have to thank my good buddy HHH Bradley Thomas Hensley for inspiring me to get myself in shape a year ago. I did my first fit test 1 year ago today and now I am working out 9 times a week and feeling great. I'm not sure how I'll every repay him for being the main motivator to get me from Tubby Town to RESULTS CITY!
Thanks Brad!

Yoga on hold untill later

Interrupted twice so I'll try to get it in this evening.

Beach day and run in a Monsoon!

I got in Shoulders and Arms today and a run with Lucy during a torrential downpour. Before I started these workouts, I was what some people say was "loose in the cage" now I'm all like X ME X ME! Pushed play, pushed hard, and ran for 30 minutes afterward.
I know I love myself already but damn does the boy look good!

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

Banging the Bucket

Woke up this morning to our first vicious storm of the year. Brought my bucket and got to work. I may have lost 5 lbs today during my workout. I did Ab Ribber after plyo today as I did doubles back to back yesterday and just didn't have enough time. Full set of 40 Mason twists to finish the Ribber.
Now, back to yesterday's results: 223 full "I'm a Man!" push ups is the second highest total of my illustrious career and I am just starting week 3. I got 233 push ups in during my 11th week of the second round last year, so where is this going to take me? I'm not sure but I do know, that I'm no longer fearful of removing my shirt in public. I went shirtless today during plyo and I regularly rip my shirt of Hulkamania style during my client meetings.
Still pushing play, eating clean, and living the life!

Monday, January 18, 2010

The Playoffs suck but my progress is legit!

I ran 8 miles yesterday, no problemo. This morning I decided to do my doubles Back to Back and performed Chest and Back followed by a 5 mile run in the rain. So far, throughout this round of P90X I've run a total of 58.3 miles as well as performing a full schedule of the X. My stamina and energy is pretty solid and I'm certain I will see some dramatic results after "Graduation". Today was also a big day in terms of breakthroughs, much faster this time around than the prior two rounds. I started this workout just over weeks ago and my totals were as follows:
  • 180 Standard push ups
  • 11 Free Form Pull Ups
  • 51 stool assisted pull ups
  • 62 total Pull ups
Last week I got to 195 in total pull ups and increased my total pull ups by one but was fearful that my increase in cardio was going to hamper my performance in the studio. However, I woke up this morning pushed play and proceeded to BRING IT!
Todays results:
  • 223 push ups
  • 22 Free Form Pull ups
  • 51 Stool assisted pull ups
  • 73 total pull ups
If that doesn't remind any of you of Carl Diekler, I'm not sure what will. Mr Intensity, like nobody's business!

Results City!

Legs and Back - looking forward to sleeping in

I finished up Legs and Back on Friday night and proceeded to eat about 20 ozs of chicken, rice, beans, and plantains. Ummm Yummmm! Saturday, kept the diet clean untill Saturday night, Nutella, graham bunnies and yogurt with Granola for snack after the Shrimp Pasta Pomodoro P90X dinner. Clean diet for Sunday so far and about to head out on a long run with the dog. I finished up my second full week and I've gained some weight, I attribute this to muscle gain before the ultimate fat loss and weight loss.
Looking forward to pushing play tomorrow for another set of Doubles. I'm feeling strong so far and the soreness is subsiding a bit, not as painful to take a squat as last week was, we'll see after this run.

Week 2 coming to a close

This Pic is from February 3rd 2009. I went back through last year's progress pics and got a kick out of where I started and where I am now. Considering a year ago I wouldn't even think about doing more than 3 pull ups and got winded after a 3 mile 30 minute jog, I am excited to see where my progress takes me this time. Got up at 4:30 this morning just raring to go! Did Ab Ripper X and talk about ripping it, we had burritos last night and suffice it to say the living room smelled of burritos this morning. Went out with Lucy for my 5 mile jog and will be doing Legs and Back this evening! I will be sleeping in on Saturday, and by sleeping in, I mean with both kids in the bed by 6:00 am watching Dora or Handy Manny. I will post some updated pics in February to see the real difference a year makes.
Drink your Water People and tip of the day...Don't smash your face!

Shoulders/Arms/ARX + 5 Mile run double up!

Wednesday is a tough day as I do Shoulders and Arms, with an abbreviated arx and run 5 miles in a 2 hour period starting at 5:00am. PacMan's Back! Vegas Van Dan is halfway through his first go of P90X and HHH is as gay as ever. Sorry for the lack of posts, but I just got an iPhone yesterday and like anyone who has one, I've been obsessed with it since I opened the box. Since this is my third installment of this, I am getting into the groove much quicker than the other 2 times. I've maintained a relatively solid level of fitness since I finished up round 2 in August. I've been running 4 days a week, mixing in a few random P90 workouts in the mix and Ab Ribber 2 to 3 days a week so my starting point is much better this time. I still have the complete body soreness that comes with the program but it's minimal compared to the past. Also, I'm already feeling and seeing results faster than either of the previous sessions. And so is my wife.
I am running a looser diet than in the past but still sticking to the diet 90% of the time.
I rocked Yoga again today, pushups in between every movement, full crane, made my back seize up during wheel but worked the hell out of Happy Baby and The Corpse!
I'm not sure who missed Tony more, my wife, my kids, or myself!

Mr. Intensity = Results City!

Wow! What a week! As I've stated before I am doing a doubles version of P90X for my third installment of this fine program. Instead of doing the Cardio X dvd every 3 days I am running my dog 4 days a week. On Mon, Wed, Fri I do a 5 mile run and on Sundays, I do a longer run, just over 6 miles, so my schedule is as such:
  • Monday- 5 Mile run in AM, Chest and Back+ ARX- PM
  • Tuesday - Plyo
  • Wednesday - Shoulders and Arms+ARX+ 5 mile run in AM
  • Thursday - Yoga
  • Friday - 5 Mile run in AM +ARX, Back and Legs in PM
  • Saturday Stretch or rest
  • Sunday - Run with dog
Last week, I was unable to get Back and Legs in on Friday so I did it on Saturday and then ran on Sunday. Needless to say, it's been hard to sit down the last few days.
Monday was a solid workout day for me, I felt good on the run after some initial soreness and delicate steps down my hill but finished the run all the way to my house which is a nice little climb to finish on. I did Chest and Back last night and improved on my total number of pushups from last week by 13. My pull ups are still lagging but I was also still sore from doing pull ups on Saturday and then got most of the way through ARX and threw in the towel. I was spent. I woke up this morning and got after it with Frog Boy, Bucket Boy and Mr Intensity! Plyo is a bitch of a workout in a different way and I really settled into a groove. I finished out Plyo with HHH's words ringing in my ears, "You don't drink, so you have no excuse for not having a great body!"
PacMan!?

Legs and Back = coma

I'm not sure how Colt McCoy's arm felt the other night but my legs are no longer feeling anything. Legs and Back is one of the most intense workouts in this whole series. Plyo- Core Synergistics and Legs and Back never get easier. Good news to report; this is my third time through P90x and I've kept copious notes for the first two rounds so I can see what I've done as a gauge of my strength. I did more standard pull ups today than I did week 1 of round 2. It brought my total number of pull ups down a bit but I'm really pushing myself to improve my ability to do pull ups. Anyway, I didn't get it in on Friday so I did it first thing Saturday morning and will be finishing my week with Wesley and his outrageous heart rate tomorrow.
PacMan?

Part 1 of Doubleday 3

This morning I awoke before my alarm and had plans of getting in Legs and Back before my run. However, after looking at the workout again, I quickly realized that if I tried to do Legs and Back then run today, I may be calling my wife for a ride home after I got halfway done with the run so I am splitting today's workout into two sessions. I did the same with Chest and Back but doubled up on Shoulders and arms and the run. I need to make sure I eat well today and get in the Legs and back this afternoon.
On a side note, I'm concerned about PacMan. Where is he?

Because, I do Yoga!

Alright,
I may now have to get up earlier than I did in 2009 to get my workouts in. I was half way through Yoga this morning when the girls and dog come downstairs and do their best to interrupt my balance poses. After some yelling and glaring, I finally got them out of my way and finished a shirtless session successfully. I'm in day 4 of the program now and will doing my third double day workout of the week tomorrow with Legs and Back and a 40 minute run. I may not be able to walk this weekend. I weighed in at 208 pre workout and 205 post workout.
I'm sore all over and I love it.

Plyo is a Bitch

I've got good news and great news. First the Good news, I'm very regular when it comes to Bowl movements, however, they've been hardening in the last week and I'm now to the point of pushing out rabbit pellets with great force! The Great news is I'm beating my alarm up and out of bed before 4:50 every morning. My plan was to get Plo in this morning and started out well with ARX from yesterday as, no PacMan, I'm not able to get it all in yet in Back to Back doubles. I did 94% of ARX today as this is an area that saw limited action in my time away, I will have to get Plyo in this evening as I was not able to get er donw this morning. I now have the complete body soreness that I grew so fond of last year.
Side note, I did a trail run on Saturday morning instead of the scheduled Back and Legs workout, it was the first Annual Marsh to Mt Top organized by a buddy of mine up here. We started our run at the Bay, actually touching the bay with our hands and ran to the top of Mt Tamalpais. It was a total of 8.2 miles 3000+ elevation gain and I did it in just over 1 hour and 50 minutes. The last mile was brutal, but the accomplishment was satisfying.
Also, is it just me or was the Fiesta Bowl the largest collection of white people around a sporting event since the 50's? TCU and Boise State, shocking!

Guess who's Back!

Alright stop collaborate and listen! Icee's back with a brand new invention! It called Doubles My Way Bitches. Today I did my first Double session back to back and by that I mean, I did my lifting workout, today was Shoulders and Arms and then I ran for 40 mins with my dog. Talk about brutal, it was tough but I made it through and I will be doing this type of workout 3 days a week this time. The P90X Doubles plan calls for following the classic plan through week 4 then adding Cardio in week 5, 3 days a week through completion. I'm going to be doing cardio 3 days a week through the whole 90 days and we'll see what happens. I weighed in before my first workout last week at 208. Up Slightly from where I finished my last full session of P90x but not bad in the grand scheme of life. My goal for the next 90 days is simple, be accountable, be healthy, and finish another round of P90X with cardio mixed in for total body fitness.
